Old News Pages from Faith Assembly — 2002
[December 22, 2002, Archived February 8, 2003]
Last summer, our family went to Minnesota for vacation. We
spent about a week with the Mark Watson family, who live in Lakeville, near
Minneapolis-St. Paul. I mentioned our time with them in the August 26 update of
this newsletter. You can read that in the Old News
Pages. Just scroll down to August 26.
We are very blessed to know another family who share so much
of the same values and convictions. I want to introduce you to Kelly, their
second oldest daughter, who has a testimony to share of experiences she had
working this past August in a Christian children's home in Guatemala.
Kelly was home schooled, graduating from high school this
past spring. She has had a special interest in Spanish, and her family is
acquainted with a family (who also are familiar with the faith message and
ministry that came out of Faith Assembly), serving in the Casa Para Niños
Aleluya! (Hallelujah! Children's Home) in Guatemala. Putting her interest in
Spanish together with this point of contact, Kelly had the opportunity to spend
the month of August working at the children's home, and I have helped her put
together several pages sharing her experiences. Click on the picture below to go
to her report.

Well, summer has turned into fall, and I have been occupied with many things. The series on the gospel of Luke is complete, and after a couple months of no special series on Sunday mornings, the Lord has led to begin teaching on the book of Proverbs. Sunday evenings remain open, in the sense that there is no series going on. Wednesday nights are still the series on I Timothy.
We can now announce an expanded schedule of teaching tapes being played on PalTalk.

[August 26, 2002, Archived November 15, 2002]
Since my last installment, a lot has happened. The highlight was a trip to Minnesota, to spend a week with friends there. They have a family with about as many boys as we have girls and vice versa. Neither of our families believes in pairing off the boys and girls, so we had a good time together as a big happy family of brothers and sisters. We went to the north shore of Lake Superior one day, and another day we all went canoeing down the St. Croix River (a river that forms a large part of the border between Wisconsin and Minnesota). We had the joy of witnessing the baptism of one of our daughters, together with most of the children in the family we were visiting.
But that is a report of the pastor, not the assembly, and I want this page to be more news from the body. In that light, I will have to seek reports and testimonies from members, and I hope I can begin to include them in the next update.
Hobart E. Freeman, Th.D., taped messages

At long last I have completed my report on the
journey to Great Britain. I just had to work on it as time permitted. With so
many pictures (plus, I am still just learning "the ropes" as far as
publishing my own web page is concerned), it took longer than I expected. Click on the link above to go to
the first page of the twenty installments of that report.
I will let this be all for now, so I can take time to update
the Faith Assembly Sermons page.

It is incredible to think I have been back
from England for over two weeks now! I have decided to make a separate page of
my report of the journey, so that I can add installments without having to redo
this main news page every time. Click on the link above to go to that page.
I will come back to updating this page when I have finished
the report on the trip to England, unless there is something else that is
extremely important to report. I trust you are enjoying our mini-travelogue!

(I will keep on repeating this notice through June or July, since it affects
anyone who wants to communicate with us.)

Not a lot of time to write, what with needing to get back in the stream of my regular responsibilities here at Faith Ministries and Faith Assembly. But suffice it to say for now, my trip was blessed from start to finish. Every contact and every connection planned was made, and I was blessed to make the direct acquaintance of many beloved brothers and sisters I had known only by contact over the internet. The girls, Sarah and Vreneli, are still over in England through the end of April. We rest in God's care and protection over them in all their travels.
The time was both refreshing and challenging. The burden on my heart is relieved on one hand, increased on the other. I am refreshed to find brothers and sisters who accepted me and received me as a brother; I am burdened that "we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." This is a work that no man can do, but the Holy Spirit alone can accomplish as He brings each one of us to the cross, and we yield to Him to crucify our flesh, laying all selfish interests and purposes aside for His higher purposes.
As
I planned, I took a lot of pictures with my digital camera — 514 to be exact.
I had also suggested that I might replace the picture of a die-cast replica of a
London double-decker bus with a photo of the real thing. Well, rather than
replace, I will place the photo of the real one alongside the replica for
comparison. In future newsletters there will be a link to a page with more
photos from my trip.

Nine days left until take-off for merry old England on March 28. I will be traveling over with two of my daughters, and spending 12 days meeting the saints there, as well as the family of my future son-in-law, while enjoying a complete change of scenery. The girls will be staying through the end of April.
This will be the first time I have
traveled overseas. My prayer is that
God will grant me a time of real refreshing, and that perhaps I also may be able
to bring along some blessing for the saints over there.
I plan to take pictures with my digital camera, and to post them on these pages soon after I return. Here is a shot of some souvenirs from England, symbolizing the coming trip. Now, if I could just replace this bus replica with a shot of the real thing, wouldn't that be nice?

If you do not have a church home, seek God to provide one for you. However, we know that churches with a sound, full gospel, end-time message are few and far between. This is why we put our sermons on PalTalk live. Click here for information.
[January 26, 2002, Archived March 6, 2002]
I apologize again for not keeping up to date on these news pages. Time is at a premium and there has been a lot going on, as usual.
One thing that stands out in my mind is how many people are discovering the PalTalk meetings who were a part of this work in the past. Every meeting seems to be a mini-reunion of old friends, while including many new people as well. I can only pray and trust that God is touching lives and challenging His people to walk in His paths, and to continue preparing for the the catching away of the firstfruits of His bride.
One of the recent contacts has been a brother from Michigan who senses the Lord's call to gather together the remnants of a body of saints that once met in the Lansing area. I had the privilege of personally meeting this brother recently, and I pray God's wisdom and blessing on the work he is doing.
Change in Telephone Area Code
I want to repeat this notice from the previous edition of this newsletter.
The telephone numbers of northern Indiana are being split into three area codes. As of December
11, 2001, the area codes officially changed. The new area code for Faith
Assembly and Faith Ministries & Publications is 574, but my home
telephone is across the line into the other new region, where the area code is 260.
From now through June 14, 2002, you can reach us
using either the new area codes or the old area code 219. After June 14, 2002, the new codes will be mandatory. In
either case, our seven-digit phone numbers remain unchanged.
