1. ANDREW JOHN HALL (JOHN M., JOHN OR DAVID) was born March 31, 1854 in Wise County, Virginia, and died August 14, 1909 in Concord, Kentucky. He married (1) SARAH A. GOBLE November 16, 1875 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of JOHN GOBLE and MAHALA MARSHAM. She was born 1852, and died 1886. He married (2) SARAH ELIZABETH RAMEY August 17, 1887 in Johnson County, Kentucky, daughter of HENRY RAMEY and SARAH. She was born November 27, 1871 in Pike County, Kentucky, and died August 30, 1959 in Johnson County, Kentucky.

Notes for ANDREW JOHN HALL: Andrew was a magistrate and a practicing attorney. He lived on Buffalo Creek, but spent most of his time in Paintsville.

"My father, known as A.J. Hall, was born in Wise County, Virginia in March 1854, died August 14, 1909. He spent most of his life in the afore mentioned community (Buffalo Creek). He was married twice, first to Sarah Goble and to this union was born three daughters and two sons. Sarah Elizabeth, Laura, Martha, John M., Benjamin-Sarah Goble died at the last child birth (Benjamin). My father, A.J. Hall, was married the second time to Sarah Elizabeth Ramey and to this union was born four sons, Charley, James H., Elzia A., Curtis." -James Henry Hall. ca. 1955-1960.

"She was a teenager herself when she married Grandpa Hall, a man of about 45 or so. She became the mother of children her own age. She and Grandpa then had four sons. Charley, James H., (our grandfather) Elsia and Curtis... I can almost remember Grandma Hall when she was older. She would ride a big horse into Van Lear and always dressed in black. She rode side saddle and made quite a picture." -Joanne Durham, August 7, 2001.
